STRAWBERRY TIME

Hello friends and Neighbors, Hope your all having a good weekend. I have been busy working on several UFO projects this last month. Gardening, kitchen towels and a knotted project. My favorite craft form is weaving and then sculpting. However, when we moved from Oregon back to Calif. I had to put my loom and sculpting supplies in storage as this house is so small and no room for it. So it goes for now.

But in the meantime I have been trying to finish up the UFOS and worked on some punch needle and that has kept me quite busy. The kitchen towel is one project that was woven about four years ago and at long last it is finished and I can now use it.

Wish I could say the Strawberries are from my garden but they will not grow well up here in the high country. These are from the local store and could not pass them up. YUMMY now to make a fresh strawberries pie.

WOOL PIN KEEPER AND MUG RUG

Finished up four new designs and will post two for you to enjoy. The Pin Keeper measure about 5 inches by 5 inches and the Mug Rug about 6 inches by 6 inches. The Pin Keeper is filled with crushed walnut shells and the little Mug Rug is padded with a quilted fabric. These were a lot of fun and have two more different designs on the drawing board. Patterns will soon be available.

SHEEP PIN KEEPER

Hello Again,
A very quite Sunday here in California the sun is out and flowers are really starting to pop out. After planting a few flowers and enjoying the outdoors decided I best come inside and post something to this blog and as you know after a few days of blogging one runs out of things to say.

Decided to dig through my pictures and share another one of my loves with all of you. When I tend to get bogged down with other projects, it seems a pin cushion will pop up one way or the other.

Here is one of my make over from a round box? SMILE'S . Kind of funny to call a round container a box don't you think? Never the less here is a picture of the Sheep Pin cushion. Simple, fast and fun to make.

HOW CUTE IS THIS ?

How darn cute is this little Kewpie and don't you think this would make a cute, cute
stitchery piece. I was blessed to have been given many wonderful antique patterns and designs by a friend who owns the copyrights to them and has shared that right with me.
About two weeks ago I became a Grant Grandma and love every second of it too. Thinking about putting this design onto some baby bibs for my grate grandson. He is doing fine and weighted in at 8lbs. 30z. and 20 inches long. Must admit I had forgotten how small this little ones arrive into this world. What a difference from being around adult sons who are oh so big.

Would a patchwork quilt work well with cute Kewpie's? So many wonderful creative things a person can make for loved ones and friends.

THE EMBROIDERY MACHINE

HELLO DEAR FRIENDS,

After hundreds of dollars, hours and hours of reading come to find out that I need a spacial hardware device and that is not going to happen for quite sometime as I have used all my funds and then some.
So for now it is back to handwork and my little pattern works. Oh well the dream was quite nice and well meant. I guess there is a lesson here some where. I am really disappointed but that is just the way life is at sometime or the other.

On the brighter side of life I have created four new wool felt designs and hope to have them finished and pictures posted.

WAITING FOR NEW PROGRAM

UPDATE

HOWDY FRIENDS, After all the reading and trying to reinstall the old software found out that it is OUTDATED what a shock, AS IT IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD. After hours and several days of being disappoints I went ahead and order the new program and also had to order a new read and write box as well and now I am broke once again. Gee was going to go visit a friend in Utah but that will have to wait a bit longer.

On the brighter side of all the cost I am really excited to be getting the new programs, read and write for my fancy Embroidery Machine AND new computer. Would not have been able to do this but my adult kids and grand kids help me out. I have so many ideas, drawings and patterns that I want to convert to embroidery stitches for both hand and machine embroidery.

Thank goodness I was blessed to have taken a few lessons in regards to programming and design development. for the embroidery machine and computer. Sounds like I know something, and I do and that is I know, I know very little but willing to attempt the school of hard knocks. With all this said I found out that my retirement is very close to being filed as part of a bankruptcy. Talk about a shocker.
All I can say it is going to be hard for this old gal.

READING AND MORE READING

Hi Friends
There is a lot of reading and learning to this fancy machine, but I am working my way through it all. I found the unit that will download patterns that I hope to create for Cross Stitch Embroidery for both hand and machine work.

It is really amazing how much a person forgets in such a short period of time but I shall work through it all. Well lets say if that house doesn't sell tomorrow then of course the plans will change. Gee maybe this is what it will take to find a buyer.

CHECK OUT THE NEW PATTER SECTION

Thought it was time to pop in and post what I am learning new. Several years ago when we lived in Oregon my DH bought me a Brothers Pacesetter embroidery machine. Being his health turn for the worst I really didn't have much time to learn all the bells and what not on that little jewel.
I loved what I had learned and being I have my home up for sale and needing something to do that will not create a huge mess like the weaving and rug hooking, thought it would be a good time to relearn about this unique sewing machine. This machine came with a PC cross stitch program and a digitize too. Woe that sounds so cool and fun. It is fun but at time I felt like pulling my hair trying to understand the computer part of the embroidery machine, and both pieces of software. I think you get the idea this is going to be fun for all of use.
Click the STITCHING ROOM picture, as that is where you will find free goodies. By the way this is pattern is for hand embroidery cross stitch. Have learned the digitizer to date.

SILVER SPOON PIN KEEPER

This was a quick and fun project made from a old sterling silver tablespoon. Hubby bent the handle for me and then a cut two piece of light tan antique velvet fabric the shape of the spoon, plus a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Stuffed it with wool fibers, added a little piece of tea dyed lace.
I think this makes a nice pin keeper, and a special way to save a damaged silver spoon.

SNIPPeT BASKET AND PIN KEEPER

The last few days have been quite long, cold and wet and I am so ready for Spring.
Here is one of those long winter day creation. It is a SNIPPET BASKET AND
PIN KEEPER. The basket was made from old blue jeans, cotton fabric and left over
wool pieces. The pin keeper was made from red coat wool and stuffed with wool left over snippet's. Will try and develop this into a pattern to share with all of you.

What Next ?

Here we are and winter is still going and I think it is time to switch
stitching projects to something new and exciting. The other
day when I was sorting through my patterns cam across a pattern that
I had bought from Primitive Betty's, and a old knitting scarf pattern.
Now to locate yarn and other wares to create a cross stitch project.

Became a bit bored from sorting out patterns and switched to checking
out some old projects I had download to a CD and came across some beautiful
Spring pictures of my backyard in Oregon and thought I would share a bit
of Oregon Spring with you.
I miss Oregon and wish I could afford to move back, perhaps one day.
Here In Magalia, Ca. after four years have found no weavers, not a sole
interested in rug hooking or needle punch. Those I have met are quilter's and
I am not one however, I do enjoy sewing. Personally I think it is fitting all
those fabric pieces together and then they must match up so perfect that
I don't think my old nerves would last.

So here goes a simple and lovely Oregon Spring pictures. Hmmmmm so beautiful.
